I was crowned Miss Orlando 2012 over two months ago and sometimes I still can't believe it. This is a dream come true. So much of a dream come true that my divorced parents of 18 years cried and hugged each other the night I was crowned! I have had so many amazing opportunities already. The Miss Orlando Program is working closely with my internship, Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Hospitals, so everything couldn't have come together more nicely.
I have had so many great appearances since becoming Miss Orlando. I wont list all of them... but you can look at all the appearances Sara, Samantha and I have had along with some great pictures at www.missorlando.org
This past weekend, I had an appearance that I had been looking forward to for about six weeks in advance: Emma's Miracle Golf Classic. This event is put on by Emma's family, the Provenzano family. Emma is a Miracle Child with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). In fact, she was recently selected to be Florida's Champion Champion Child for CMNH. Emma endured four heart surgeries by the time she was four. Among with many other challenges Emma faced as a little baby girl, she has never quit fighting and is now a healthy 7 year-old. Emma and her family are 100% so much fun to be around. They are huge CMNH advocates and her 7th Annual Invitational benefitted the cause (AKA my favorite cause EVER).
Emma and I at the start of the tournament, right after she did the tee off. She's a golfing wiz!
I was able to spend the entire day with Emma, her mom Shannon, and some other amazing family members that helped make the day happen. We had fun driving all around the course multiple times and visiting all the golfers there for CMNH and Emma. I tried to get Emma to drive the golf cart but she said she didn't drive. Therefore, we had a blast riding around with her in my lap pretending it was a roller coaster. I was also able to recruit my future roommates to volunteer. They had a little bit too much fun with the kids!!! I'm so glad they came out to learn more about my favorite cause. All of you in blogland... I will share more about CMNH with you soon. I don't want to make this post too long and I think I could talk about CMNH forever.
My future roommates, Kaylea and Kristyn along with Emma and her cousin, Bella.
By the end of the day, Emma and I welcomed the golfing teams back for a delicious dinner. It was so hard to limit my carb intake!!! Emma also presents awards every year.. we decided she should probably present the awards in style...
She's definitely a princess...
Moral of the story, we all had an amazing Saturday all to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and celebrate Emma's life. This was our third CMNH event together and I know there will be quite a bit more we share in our future :)
<3,
Amanda, Miss Orlando
